Message from the Principal |
|
Dear Purdy Families,
Happy Holidays! It’s hard to believe the holiday season is already upon us. Amid the hustle and bustle, I hope you find special moments to cherish with family and friends, creating memories filled with joy and gratitude.
At Purdy Elementary, the holidays are a special time to come together as a community and focus on the spirit of giving. This year, our school has once again demonstrated the power of kindness and generosity.
Together, we donated an incredible 696 cans of food and $131 to the Fish Food Bank. In addition, students shared the spirit of gratitude by writing Gobble Grams filled with encouraging and heartfelt messages to classmates and staff. The smiles and appreciation these small notes inspired were heartwarming.
Special recognition goes to Girl Scout Troop #44527, comprised of many of our 2nd and 3rd-grade Purdy students. These remarkable girls took the lead in ensuring that every student received a Gobble Gram token, even crafting thoughtful notes for each class. Their act of kindness and leadership was a wonderful example of what it means to give back. A huge thank you to Ms. Boss, Mrs. Necessary, and our amazing PTA for supporting this initiative and making it a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
We are incredibly grateful for our parent volunteers, who continue to make a difference in our school through events like Make-It Take-It, The Penguin Shop, Gobble Grams, Panther Store, Communities in Schools, Hands-On Art, Watch DOGS, and more. From daily support to events, your dedication ensures a safe, vibrant, and supportive environment for our students and staff. Thank you for all you do!
Looking ahead, Purdy is hosting a toy and clothing drive to brighten the holidays for local students and families in need. We invite everyone to contribute by donating toys, books, scarves, hats, mittens, jackets, or other gifts. Simply send an item to school with your child, and help us spread some holiday cheer. Your generosity will make a meaningful impact on those who need it most.
As we close out this year, let’s continue to teach our children the values of compassion, generosity, and service to others. These lessons will stay with them long after the holiday season has passed.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! Thank you for being such an integral part of our Purdy family.
Warm regards,
Ms. Kristi Brooks
Purdy Principal

WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads of Great Students) program.
Before you sign up for a slot, please complete the mandatory district volunteer paperwork. What is WATCH D.O.G.S.--The WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads of Great Students) program is one of the nation's largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement organizations. It was designed and developed by educators, experts, and parent & guardian volunteers over more than two decades.
The WATCH D.O.G.S.® programs are implemented on Elementary and Secondary School campuses to provide positive male role models for students. By having fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures present in the school, the program demonstrates that education is important.
In addition to providing positive role models, the WATCH D.O.G.S.® program also enhances school security, reduces bullying, and provides a greater sense of campus safety. This allows students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction.
The program leverages the involvement of fathers and other male caregivers to create a more engaging and secure school environment. Through the presence of these positive role models, the WATCH D.O.G.S.® program has a meaningful impact on the students, families, and communities it serves.
At Purdy WATCH D.O.G.S. start at 9:00 and leave by 1:00. New Volunteer Sign-Up Process and Guidelines |
|
Dear Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, and other Father Figures, We are pleased to inform you of updates to our volunteer sign-up process and guidelines, designed to make volunteering in our schools easier and more effective. What’s new:
- Volunteer Sign-Up: Volunteers must now sign up online, with an option to choose district buildings (ESC) as their location. This allows volunteers to support different schools and district events, giving them greater flexibility.
- Volunteer Guidelines: We have updated our volunteer guidelines to ensure clear expectations. These include adhering to district policies, respecting student confidentiality, and fostering positive interactions with students and staff.
Please share this information with any volunteers you work with and ensure they are familiar with the new guidelines. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Any volunteers who submitted a paper application will need to sign up again online. Visit https://www.psd401.net/volunteer to learn more.
Thank you for your support in making our volunteer program a success.
